About the Role

HARMAN International is a global leader in audio-related products and solutions. In this role, you will serve as a Specialist, Marketing General for the Consumer Audio business, contributing to the development and execution of mid- to long-term marketing communications strategies to support business growth in the Japan market.

You will be responsible for digital-first marketing communications across the Consumer Audio portfolio, covering key product categories such as speakers, headphones, amplifiers, and microphones, and spanning multiple HARMAN brands including JBL, Harman Kardon, and Mark Levinson. You will also collaborate with local stakeholders to enhance the customer journey and support the successful launch of new products in line with GTM plans.

Working in close collaboration with global marketing and cross-functional teams, you will help ensure effective execution of marketing initiatives while maintaining strong alignment with global brand direction, which requires a high level of English proficiency for seamless communication. Ultimately, you will contribute to achieving business objectives while supporting sustainable brand growth and long-term brand equity in the Japan market.

This position reports to Sr Manager, Marketing, Consumer Audio, Japan.

What You Will Do

ยท Develop and execute digital-first marketing communications strategies for the Consumer Audio portfolio in Japan, with a strong emphasis on brand storytelling, product positioning, and culturally relevant content creation

ยท Plan and implement digital marketing initiatives in Japan, including creative development and advertising execution in collaboration with external agencies, management of owned media (including social media), influencer marketing, and marketing events

ยท Contribute to the successful launch of new products by executing social-centric digital marketing activities aligned with GTM plans defined by the Japan Product Marketing team, including teaser campaigns, launch day activations, and sustained post-launch community engagement

ยท Lead the creation and curation of compelling visual and written content for social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, and emerging channels), ensuring alignment with JBL's global brand identity while resonating with local Japanese youth culture and lifestyle trends

ยท Own the social media content calendar and community management, driving engagement, follower growth, and brand affinity through platform-native formats including short-form video, UGC campaigns, and interactive storytelling

ยท Collaborate with Shopper Experience and Product Media Relations teams to enhance a seamless customer journey across all touchpoints, ensuring social content bridges awareness and conversion

ยท Collaborate with global marketing and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective execution; serve as the local voice and cultural gatekeeper for JBL, Harman Kardon, AKG or other Harman-owned brands expression in Japan

ยท Translate global product positioning into locally resonant messaging and creative concepts that differentiate JBL within Japan's competitive audio and lifestyle landscape

ยท Monitor and evaluate campaign performance and social media metrics (engagement rate, share of voice, sentiment, content efficiency), and identify opportunities to continuously optimize activities to improve effectiveness and efficiency

What You Need to Be Successful

ยท Proven experience in marketing communications, with a strong focus on digital marketing

ยท Demonstrated ability to develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns

ยท Demonstrated experience in influencer marketing and partnership management, including the ability to build and manage relationships with external creators, media, and strategic partners

ยท Strong proficiency in English for effective communication in a global business environment, along with native-level Japanese language skills and the ability to create and critically review marketing copy at a high standard in Japanese

ยท Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively

ยท Solid understanding of brand management and consumer engagement, combined with hands-on experience in social media platforms (such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and X), with active engagement in content creation and emerging trends

ยท Ability to work effectively in a global and cross-functional environment

ยท Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights

ยท Strong understanding of product positioning and brand architecture โ€” ability to translate technical product features into emotional consumer benefits and lifestyle narratives

Bonus Points if You Have

ยท Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

ยท Experience in consumer electronics or in marketing globally recognized consumer brands with strong brand equity

ยท Expertise in social media strategy and content planning

ยท Experience in e-commerce or performance marketing

ยท Familiarity with GTM planning and product launch processes

ยท Experience working with data analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media analytics platforms) to measure and optimize campaign performance

ยท Experience in content creation or storytelling for digital and social media platforms

ยท Experience in managing agencies or external partners

ยท Passion for music culture, audio technology, and youth lifestyle trends in Japan

What Makes You Eligible

ยท 5+ years of experience in marketing, preferably in marketing communications or digital marketing roles

ยท Fluency in Japanese and high proficiency in English for business communication

ยท Eligibility to work in Japan

ยท Be willing to travel up to 5%, domestic only

ยท Be willing to work in the office (Harman flex policy allows office/remote work in alignment with your manager)

ยท Successfully complete a background investigation/Aptitude Test as a condition of employment
