Job Summary As a Special Education Paraprofessional for our Autism Program, you will play a vital role in providing instructional support and assistance to students with special needs. Under the direction and immediate supervision of a licensed school professional, you will work closely with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to ensure that students receive the accommodations and modifications necessary to succeed in their educational journey. Key Responsibilities Support instructional programs and provide instructional assistance to students in individual, small, and large group settings. Implement approved modifications and/or accommodations of curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students. Supervise and facilitate students in various settings, including the classroom, lunchroom, playground, field trips, and extra-curricular activities. Provide emotional support and assistance to students with special needs, including those with emotional issues, self-help skills, fine and gross motor needs, visual, auditory, physical, medical, and health needs. Facilitate crisis intervention and assist students with problem-solving techniques and conflict resolution. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to develop and implement effective strategies for facilitating learning. Assist with data collection, record-keeping, and documentation to ensure compliance with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and district policies. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to FERPA guidelines. Participate in district and building in-service opportunities and committee work to stay updated on best practices and contribute to the district's mission. Perform additional duties as assigned, including crossing guard and lunchroom monitor responsibilities. Qualifications and Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need: Essential Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 0-2 years of experience working with children, preferably those with special needs. Basic knowledge of child development and behavior management. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Basic English, writing, and communication skills. Basic knowledge of computers and office equipment. Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with children with autism or other special needs. CPR and First Aid certification. Core District Special Education Paraprofessional training or willingness to acquire within 36 months of hire.
