## Role Summary

Software Engineer (L5) on the AV Tools & Tests team — a full‑time role focused on building hardware/software automation and measurement systems to characterize audio/video quality at scale across the global device ecosystem.

This role helps ensure device compatibility and high-quality playback on major smart TV and set‑top box platforms, working with internal engineers and external device manufacturers.

## Key Responsibilities

- Design, build and contribute to AV automation and measurement products, including front‑end and back‑end services for distributed testing platforms

- Develop and maintain automated AV tests that objectively measure and validate device AV capabilities for the Netflix TV application (including HDMI workflows)

- Integrate and extend custom HW/SW tools (e.g., device capture platforms such as Eye Patch) to enable large‑scale audio/video quality characterization

- Leverage in‑house data solutions to operationalize AV metric pipelines and enable insight exploration and monitoring

- Implement new applications from ideation through iterative experimentation to product rollout in an agile, cross‑functional environment

- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors/manufacturers to integrate and reuse their software frameworks, components, and services

- Drive cross‑team coordination with AV subject‑matter experts to meet common quality and reliability goals

- Advocate for automation, system reliability, and scalable test infrastructures to support broad device certification and validation efforts

## Required Qualifications

- Minimum 4+ years of professional software development experience shipping production products

- Strong programming skills in Python, Java. Script, or C/C++

- Full‑stack development experience (front‑end and back‑end systems)

- Experience building automation, test frameworks, or distributed test platforms

- Proven ability to work with internal stakeholders and external vendors to integrate third‑party hardware/software

- Excellent communication skills; collaborative, curious, flexible, and team‑oriented

- Passion for automation, reliability, and scalable systems engineering

## Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with audio/video technologies, HDMI capture, or device certification workflows

- Background working with consumer device manufacturers (smart TV, set‑top box vendors)

- Familiarity with data pipelines and operationalizing telemetry/metric data for insights

- Experience designing hardware/software integration points for automated testbeds

- Prior work in cross‑functional, high‑scale media or streaming engineering teams
