Software Engineer I
The Walt Disney Company is a global leader in entertainment and media, and they are seeking a Software Engineer I to join their Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology team. This role involves building and supporting the metadata and artwork platform for Disney+, ESPN+, and other streaming services, focusing on integrating content from various studios and enhancing user experience. Responsibilities Work with a team of engineers building software in a collaborative development process Build high-performance, stable, scalable systems to be deployed in an enterprise setting Assist with AI-related development tasks, such as integrating existing AI or machine-learning services and verifying basic inputs and outputs Participate in high-level architecture discussions and planning sessions Participate in the code review process by providing feedback on pull requests Participate in on-call rotation, supporting systems and services during production incidents Skills Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and learn quickly Demonstrated eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies Experience with at least one programming language; preferred languages include TypeScript or Java, with C++ or JavaScript also acceptable Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles Familiarity with RESTful services and API concepts Understanding of source control fundamentals, with exposure to Git Knowledge of data persistence technologies (SQL and/or NoSQL) Exposure to build and deployment tools such as Jenkins and Docker Excellent written and verbal communication skills Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience Benefits A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
