About the position
IGT is a global leader in gaming, delivering entertaining and responsible gaming experiences across various channels and regulated segments, including Lotteries, Gaming Machines, Sports Betting, and Digital. The company is currently seeking a Software Engineer / Back End Developer to join their team in Providence, Rhode Island. This role is crucial as IGT is building new products tailored to meet the needs of their lottery customers. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player who shares a passion for building and improving software, contributing to the development of innovative solutions that engage players and drive growth. As a Software Engineer / Back End Developer, you will work closely with architects, product management, and other engineers to design, develop, and deliver IGT products. Your responsibilities will include building configurable products to meet the diverse needs of several customers, writing well-designed and testable code, and actively participating in scrum events. Collaboration with other engineering teams is essential, and as the team grows, you will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and development within the team. This position requires a strong background in backend programming, with at least 8 years of experience. You should possess the ability and willingness to learn new technologies, make data-driven decisions, and have proficiency with SQL. Time management skills, experience with CI/CD processes, and familiarity with Agile methodologies are also important. Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills, are essential for success in this role. Preferred qualifications include experience in cloud-native application development and full-stack development, which will enhance your ability to contribute to the team effectively.
