You’ll work across the stack — from building fast, intuitive interfaces to designing scalable backend infrastructure — and play a key role in defining how our system thinks and feels.This is a high-impact role collaborating closely with Metal’s founders, GTM team, and fellow engineers. You’ll ship production code across frontend and backend surfaces, contribute to intelligent agent development, and help shape the core architecture of our platform.What You'll DoOwn core parts of the product across both backend and frontend systemsDesign and build scalable backend services with Go, MongoDB, and VespaImplement clean, maintainable UI components using React (Next.js) and Tailwind CSSCollaborate with design and product to rapidly prototype new AI-native workflowsBuild and integrate LLM-powered agents into investor workflowsWork across the stack (FE, API, infra) to deliver seamless, intelligent experiencesContribute to architecture decisions and engineering culture as an early team memberDrive performance, reliability, and usability across the platformWhat We’re Looking For5+ years of experience as a software engineer working on production systemsStrong backend development experience (ideally in Go and MongoDB)Comfortable working in frontend frameworks like React and Next.jsFamiliarity with building and scaling cloud-native applications on AWSExcited by fast iteration, rapid prototyping, and customer-centric developmentCurious about intelligent systems and how to orchestrate agents using LLMsEntrepreneurial mindset — proactive, adaptable, and outcome-orientedBased in NYC or open to relocating — we believe great product gets built in personBonusExperience working with or around AI/GenAI productsFamiliarity with vector databases (e.g. Vespa, Pinecone) or agent orchestration frameworks (e.g. LangChain, OpenAI functions)Exposure to real-time search, ranking, or large-scale data pipelinesPrior experience in a startup or lean, fast-moving engineering teamOur StackFrontend: React (Next.js), Tailwind CSSBackend: Go, MongoDBAI Infra: Vespa.ai, Model APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc), Agent orchestrationInfra: Vercel, AWS, GitHub ActionsBenefits & CompensationWe believe in hiring great people and rewarding them with competitive compensation.
