Build Yourself Up is looking for a creative, social-savvy Social Media Manager / Content Creator who gets it. This role may be one position or split into two for the right candidate. If you live for storytelling, have an eye for aesthetics, and can spot a TikTok trend before it hits everyone’s feed — we want you on our team.
We’re a youth development and education brand working with families, schools, and community partners. We’re seeking an experienced, professional, and reliable social media pro who can bring our mission to life across platforms while maintaining a polished and consistent brand voice.
Must be local to New Jersey.
What You’ll Be Doing
As our Social Media Manager / Content Creator, you will be responsible for managing and creating content across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
Responsibilities include:
• Create strategic, engaging content (graphics in Canva + short-form video editing)
• Research current social media trends and audience preferences
• Produce high-quality video edits for Reels, TikToks, and short-form content
• Develop creative and original content ideas aligned with brand goals
• Write compelling, on-brand captions (free of spelling, grammar, and formatting errors)
• Schedule, publish, and manage content across platforms
• Track content performance and adjust strategy in collaboration with leadership
• Community management: engage with followers, respond to comments and messages
• Manage visual consistency across platforms (profile photos, highlights, covers, etc.)
• Create and post Instagram Stories using best practices
• Stay up-to-date on platform updates, trends, and tools
• Be available for on-site content shoots in the NJ/NYC area
• Comfortably meet with and communicate directly with clients and partners
• On-camera hosting: confidently appear on camera to lead trend-based or informational content with energy and professionalism
Who You Are
The ideal candidate is:
• Creative, witty, and comfortable both on-camera and behind the scenes
• Highly organized (folders within folders kind of organized)
• A strong self-starter who manages time well and doesn’t need micromanaging
• Detail-oriented to a fault (this is a must)
• Professional, personable, and adaptable across different audiences and brands
You should have:
• Proven experience as a Social Media Manager and/or Content Creator
• Experience creating content for brands (graphics + video)
• Experience with Meta Ads
• Strong copywriting skills
• Proficiency in Canva and CapCut
• Comfort using Google Drive and managing deadlines
• Ability to express a brand’s voice authentically and consistently

• 10 hours/week (flexible schedule)
• Hybrid (remote + in-office)
• 6-month contract with opportunity for growth
• Work with an impact-driven brand and a supportive, creative team
• Pay: $22–$28/hour (based on experience)
