As a Health Educator 1 within the West Central Health District of the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.Job ResponsibilitiesThis is Not a Remote position. You will support the Department by utilizing your expertise to fulfill the following responsibilities:

Provide nutritional and physical activity SNAP-Ed Health Education classes virtual/in-person to the community
Develop relationships with community sites and actively recruits eligible participants for direct nutrition education
Implement Voices for Food Program
Prepare and submit reports to State SNAP-Ed program staff
Conduct community surveys to ascertain health needs, develop desirable health goals, and determine availability of professional health services.
Develop and maintain cooperation between public, civic, professional, and voluntary agencies
Prepare and disseminate educational and informational materials
Promote health discussions in community agencies
Provide information to the public regarding health concerns and resources.
Minimum QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in education, social, behavioral, or biological sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college or university.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must have effective verbal and written communication skills, such as oral presentations, written reports, articles, and data entry. Must be able to establish effective working relationships with internal and external partners, coalitions, and stakeholders. Knowledgeable in Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint.Additional InformationAll West Central Health District 7 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event including but not limited to: staffing a shelter, working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or working at a Point of Dispensing site (POD). If you are called on to participate, you are required to report to the designated site as a condition of employment, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner and leaders encourages all employees to engage in regular physical activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being. The use of physical breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and assist employees in meeting their physical goals.
