SHELTER WORKER (ANIMAL SERVICES)

We are currently seeking:
A shelter worker to join our team and, under general supervision, perform all aspects of humane animal care duties to ensure animal safety and well-being.
Your responsibilities will include:
ā¢ Cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining shelter areas as assigned.
ā¢ Feeding, watering and bathing animals.
ā¢ Providing humane sheltering services in compliance with State minimum standards and shelter policies.
ā¢ Safely and humanely handling animals of unknown health and temperament.
ā¢ Contributing to the programs and services that support the shelter's live outcome goal.
ā¢ Ensuring the safety of animals and people in the shelter.
ā¢ Accurately maintaining all required records in the shelter's database.
ā¢ Assisting in unloading trucks, stocking shelter areas and storing materials.
ā¢ Maintaining facility and grounds in a clean, neat and organized manner.
ā¢ Varying hours Sunday through Saturday 7:00 am to 6:00 pm including holidays.
ā¢ Regular and timely attendance is required.

Requirements and Skills:
ā¢ Safely handling animals, including those with unknown temperament.
ā¢ Adherence to disease management and safety protocols.
ā¢ Working with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
ā¢ Establishing and maintaining effective communication and working relationships with City employees and the public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
ā¢ A High School Diploma or equivalent required.
ā¢ Some experience working with animals is preferred.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
ā¢ Reliable transportation is required.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
ā¢ Work is performed in the City animal shelter; work involves moderate physical demands.
ā¢ Must maintain a level of physical fitness to meet Department standards and be able to lift up to 96 lbs.
