Your contributions here will shape the future of emergency services, playing a vital role in creating a safer, more connected world.Position OverviewWe are looking to hire backend-focused software engineers at a variety of levels who share our passion for our mission. This is an opportunity to join a small, growing engineering team (currently 20 engineers) and make a large impact while operating with a high degree of autonomy and ownership.In this role, you will tackle challenging engineering problems in spaces like audio/video processing and generative AI to bring new features and products from inception to scale, thoughtfully balancing speed and the high bar for stability necessitated by the mission-critical nature of our products. As an early member of the team, you will also play a key role in shaping the foundation of Prepared’s engineering culture.Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate cross-functionally to architect and launch new user-facing features and productsDesign and drive initiatives to improve the availability and reliability of our backend systemsContinuously help improve the engineering processes and tools that allow us to scale the codebase and teamProvide mentorship to less experienced engineersWhat Makes You a Great Fit:5+ years of software engineering industry experienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experienceProficiency in or eagerness to learn our backend stack (Ruby on Rails, Golang)Experience with large-scale distributed systemsDesire to work in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environmentStrong communication and interpersonal skillsBonus PointsExperience at an early-stage startupExpertise in Ruby on Rails and/or GolangPay TransparencyThe base pay for this role is $180,000-$210,000 per year + company equity.
