Senior Writer (Temporary Role)
About Hammer
Hammer Creative is a full-service creative agency specializing in the video game industry. We create award-winning campaigns, trailers, brand identities, and social content for both AAA and indie titles, including Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, Metaphor: ReFantazio, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
We’re looking for a Senior Writer to join our growing team, someone who combines strong storytelling instincts with sharp marketing sensibilities and a genuine passion for games.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• Storytelling expertise, preferably cinematic & narrative screenwriting experience.
• Deep understanding of video games and video game culture & genres.
• Ability to take critical feedback and iterate quickly.
• Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset.
Preferred
• Experience writing for video game launches, live-service content, or 360 marketing campaigns.
• Experience with trailer structure, gameplay marketing, and social-first creative.
• Screenwriting, narrative design, or cinematic writing background.
• Familiarity with production workflows across editorial, capture, and design.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Scriptwriting: Draft scripts for gameplay trailers, cinematic teasers, and social-first video content.
• Campaign Development: Collaborate with the Strategy and Creative teams to develop high-level campaign platforms, taglines, and key messaging.
• Brand Voice: Establish and maintain unique tone-of-voice guidelines for diverse game IPs.
• Social & Community Copy: Write engaging copy for TikTok, X, and community-driven activations.
• Pitching: Develop and present creative concepts to internal stakeholders and external clients.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside Editors, Motion GFX Artists, and Game Capture teams to ensure the final product aligns with the written vision.

The pay range for this temporary role
is $40.00 - $90.00 USD per hour (LA-based), depending on experience and qualifications. This range does not reflect any potential future full-time compensation and applies only to the temporary freelance scope of this position.
