This role, reporting to the Director of Engineering, plays a crucial part in shaping the technical strategy for our Nonprofit products and integrations. What you’ll do:Be the systems design expert for our Nonprofits technologyWork with our Principal Architects to lead the technical direction of our Nonprofit strategy through implementing robust, extendable and reusable architecture patternsCollaborate with product managers, staff developers and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutionsIdeate and implement Proof of Concepts for technical and product advancementLead build vs. buy technical implementation decision Mentor and guide senior and staff developers, fostering continuous learning and professional development through hands-on and pragmatic examples and feedbackCreate and maintain technical documentation related to architecture, design decisions, and implementation processesWillingly lead escalations and incidents to resolution, ensuring retrospective action items are created and completedEnsure Nonprofits adopt leading edge tools and processes to increase our performance and quality in addition to harden our securityWhat you’ll bring:10+ years of full-stack development experience, with lead and software design accountabilitiesHands-on experience with designing and implementing enterprise technology and data engineering solutionsExtensive experience with AWS technologies and cloud-native infrastructure. Familiarity with GCP Cloud and Azure is a plusExperience building and improving complex CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins and/or Vercel Proficiency in Object-Oriented languages, particularly Java and PHP. Experience with other languages and frameworks like Drupal and SpringBootStrong experience with relational and document databasesProven track record of building scalable and cost effective productsSolid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and principlesThe ability to connect designs to implementation with an API-first approach expertise with loosely coupled systems, and domain driven designVast experience with Event-driven Architecture and decoupled servicesProficiency in Agile methodologies, Infrastructure-as-Code, DevOps best practices, and automated testing frameworksAbility to work with legacy systems and plan for their integration and future updatesExcellent communication skills, translating user needs into actionable technical plansLeadership and mentoring skills, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environmentComfort with abstract problem-solving and ambiguous challengesCommitment to continuous improvement in code, processes, and team developmentDegree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experienceDiscover your purpose at workWe’re not employees, we’re Benevity-ites.
