Senior Specialist, Public Relations

Our Public Relations team at Walt Disney World is looking for a Senior Specialist to join the fun and dynamic team responsible for sharing news with fans and families around the world! This Senior Specialist position is a one-of-a-kind role involved in all facets of PR – from media relations, content creation, and events to the business behind the magic – things like strategy, integrated communications and, of course, showcasing success. More specifically, this position supports PR efforts for Disney Springs, Disney Water Parks and Disney Recreation. Other duties across the Public Relations department may also require this position’s expertise and help, such as with press events involving hundreds of media from around the world, launches of new attractions, new product offerings in our parks, the openings of new resorts, and more. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Public Relations. Excited? Then this is the role for you!

What You Will Do:
• Create and manage integrated strategic communication plans including collaborating with partners, message development/storytelling, overseeing asset creation, securing approvals, and more
• Develop story ideas, messaging, and creative content for multiple communication platforms, including blog posts, website, social and other owned digital platforms
• Coordinate with internal partners to conduct research to support communication plans
• Maintain owned channels/platforms to ensure alignment with ongoing business priorities
• Monitor and analyze communication activations to inform strategy
• Assist in the creation of decks/presentations for executive leadership on Communications & Public Relations priorities, projects, and campaigns
• Cultivate and maintain effective internal & external relationships with local and national media members, key partners and other crucial partners
• Support media relations, inclusive of developing pitches and hosting media, supporting on-site and off-site press event needs

Required Qualifications:
• 2-3 years of communications, journalism or related experience
• Knowledge and passion for the Walt Disney World Resort, its theme parks, resorts, products and entertainment
• Demonstrated ability to utilize strategic thinking and creativity
• Strong organization, administrative and time management skills; the ability to execute on multiple projects with competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent writing and storytelling, presentation and research skills, with an understanding of how to optimally communicate to different audiences
• Experience managing projects and campaign initiatives with an understanding of overarching goals, objectives, and relevant considerations
• Proficiency with Associated Press writing style
• Understanding of the media landscape and experience working with media
• Ability and willingness to learn new software applications
• Knowledge and experience with a variety of social media platforms/content creation
• Ability to maintain confidential information
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or other content creation platforms
• Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule as needed, including some weekends and holidays

Preferred Qualifications:
• Fluency in more than one language
• Previous experience working in the theme park industry
• Knowledge of culturally relevant topics, including Sports, recreation, theme parks, resorts, etc.
• Experience working within a diverse office environment

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field
