Senior Sound Designer - AAA Games

Our client, a renowned leader in the interactive entertainment industry, is seeking a highly talented and creative Senior Sound Designer to join their prestigious studio in New York City, New York, US . This role is critical in crafting the auditory landscape of our AAA game titles, immersing players in rich and believable worlds. You will be responsible for the conceptualization, creation, implementation, and mixing of all in-game sound effects, ambient environments, Foley, and potentially voice-over direction. The ideal candidate will possess an exceptional ear for detail, a deep understanding of game audio pipelines, and proficiency with industry-standard digital audio workstations (DAWs) and game engines. You will collaborate closely with game designers, artists, and programmers to ensure sound design effectively enhances gameplay mechanics, narrative, and emotional impact. Responsibilities: Design, create, and implement high-quality sound effects, ambient audio, and Foley for AAA video games. Work within industry-standard game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) to integrate and manage audio assets. Collaborate with game designers and narrative teams to ensure sound design supports gameplay and story. Mix audio elements to create immersive and balanced soundscapes across various platforms. Record, edit, and process raw audio materials. Develop and maintain audio asset libraries and documentation. Contribute to the overall sonic direction and audio technology research. Provide technical and creative guidance to junior sound designers and audio team members. Optimize audio performance and memory usage within game builds. Stay current with the latest trends and technologies in game audio and sound design. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Production, Game Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in sound design for video games, with a strong portfolio showcasing AAA titles. Proficiency in multiple DAWs (e.g., Pro Tools, Nuendo, Reaper) and audio middleware (e.g., Wwise, FMOD). Experience with game engines like Unreal Engine and/or Unity. Excellent understanding of acoustics, psychoacoustics, and audio mixing principles. Strong creative and artistic sensibility with a keen ear for detail. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Experience with audio implementation pipelines and scripting is a plus. Passion for video games and interactive media.
