About the Role: As a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on Big Data, you'll utilize your software development expertise and strong analytical skills to build and enhance our industry-leading tools. Your day-to-day work will involve designing and developing software solutions using Java, Python, SQL, Big Data, Linux, git, and gradle.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with business stakeholders, Lead Engineers, and the Head of Software Development to design, build, and test new products and features
Write code in Java using your preferred IDE
Work independently or in small team projects
Participate in requirement gathering and design meetings
Participate in peer code reviews
Investigate and optimize code for usability, performance, and scalability
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
Advanced and demonstrable analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
Proficient programming experience in an enterprise setting
High-volume transactional environment experience
4+ years of software development experience as a Java engineer
2+ years of software development experience as a Python developer
A strong understanding of computer systems, the Internet, databases, and the Java programming language
Experience with fundamental programming constructs (conditionals, loops, data structures)
Strong relational database skills (SQL, JDBC - Oracle, and PostgreSQL preferred)
Preferred Skills:
SQL databases like MapR DB, HBase, Cassandra
Big Data components/frameworks like Hadoop (MapR), Spark, Yarn, Kafka, Flink, ELK, etc.
Big Data querying tools like Drill, Voila, Hive, Ojai, etc.
