Working directly with the VP of Engineering, you'll build and implement the systems, processes, and culture that define reliability at Finary.You'll establish and enforce reliability standards across our technology stack, implement robust observability solutions, and drive a culture of operational excellence. By bridging the gap between development and operations, you'll enable our engineering teams to deliver features faster while maintaining stability.In this highly independent position, you'll architect and implement solutions using GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Docker, creating scalable infrastructure that grows with our user base. You'll define and measure SLOs/SLIs, build automated recovery systems, streamline incident response processes, and continuously optimize infrastructure costs.Beyond technical implementation, you'll be a thought leader for reliability practices, collaborating with all engineering teams to embed reliability thinking into our development lifecycle from the start, not as an afterthought.About the roleYour manager will be Bertrand Lehurt (VP Engineering)Have extensive experience designing and maintaining high-availability architectures in production environmentsPossess deep knowledge of Google Cloud Platform, particularly KubernetesAre proficient with infrastructure as code tools, especially TerraformHave strong experience with containerization technologies like DockerExcel at implementing and utilizing observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, and GrafanaHave a proven track record implementing effective monitoring, alerting, and incident response processesPossess strong analytical skills for troubleshooting complex system failures and performance bottlenecksApply security principles (least privilege, secure defaults, etc.) as a foundational aspect of system designHave experience defining and tracking reliability metrics (SLOs/SLIs/SLAs) that align with business goalsDemonstrate a bias for automation, consistently replacing manual processes with scalable solutionsAre comfortable being on-call and handling production incidents calmly and methodicallyCommunicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersWork collaboratively across teams while maintaining independence and ownershipMake pragmatic operational decisions, balancing ideal solutions with business needsYou’d be a great fit if youHave experience as the first or founding SRE in a fast-growing companyPossess experience with fintech or financial systems where reliability is criticalHave experience optimizing cloud infrastructure costs without sacrificing performanceHave experience mentoring developers on reliability best practicesAre a team player, are humble, and like to help others groware genuinely friendly and ambitiouslike to take initiative and find new creative solutions to problemsare an excellent communicator and know how to coordinate teams, collect feedback and identify bottlenecksare fluent in English (written and spoken)break down big projects into small deliverables, well-presented to engineers, and move fast based on user feedback.
