About the position The Senior Scientist in Sensory & Consumer Experience at Frito Lay, Inc. will work within a team of Sensory Scientists and Coordinators to lead Sensory and Consumer Product Insights research for R&D teams. This role is crucial for driving product, package, and process design decisions. The successful candidate will develop and execute research plans that enable clear product and process design decisions for product development. Collaboration with cross-functional partners is essential to clarify proposition questions and create joint learning plans as needed. The role also involves ensuring accurate documentation of test goals and objectives, test design, and testing procedures. Summarizing results, interpreting data, making recommendations, and presenting findings cross-functionally are key responsibilities. The Senior Scientist will deliver recommendations based on data to impact business decisions and influence the business agenda, while also collaborating across Sensory & Consumer Experience to explore new capabilities and methodologies. Telecommuting is permitted 40% of the time, allowing work to be performed within normal commuting distance from the Frito Lay office in Plano, TX. Responsibilities • Lead Sensory and Consumer Product Insights research for R&D teams. • Develop and execute research plans for product/process design decisions. • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to clarify proposition questions. • Create joint learning plans as needed. • Ensure accurate documentation of test goals, objectives, design, and procedures. • Summarize results, interpret data, and present findings cross-functionally. • Deliver data-driven recommendations to impact business decisions. • Explore new capabilities and methodologies in Sensory & Consumer Experience. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Consumer Psychology, Market Research, Sensory and Consumer Science, or related technical discipline. • Five years of experience guiding research in a major consumer packaged goods company. • Sensory and Consumer Science degree or Certification required. • OR a PhD in Sensory and Consumer Science or related field. • Four years of experience (or experience through coursework with PhD) in leading qualitative and quantitative consumer research. • Experience in application of Sensory Testing Methods. • Experience in applying appropriate analysis procedures for sensory and consumer data. • Training and experience in applying experimental design and statistics to sensory and consumer research. • Experience in leading and managing multiple projects simultaneously. • Ability to interpret complex data and its impact on the business.
