Senior Reporter - AMU
• *About CRU:**

• *About the role:**
An experienced journalist — ideally with aluminum market experience — to join Aluminum Market Update (AMU). The role will break spot news, produce timely coverage and in‑depth market reports, conduct exclusive interviews with industry leaders, collect and assess pricing-related data, edit contributors’ work, and help grow AMU’s website, newsletter and events.
• *Key Responsibilities:
• Break news and produce timely coverage of industry announcements, quarterly earnings, and aluminum market developments; lead improvements to the website and newsletter.
• Gather and interpret market intelligence, develop new sources, and analyse survey data.
• Assess price-related data and key market indicators; log data/information as required (familiarity with IOSCO standards helpful).
• Build expert knowledge of aluminum and nonferrous scrap markets.
• Represent CRU and AMU at conferences and events; speak, moderate and help drive success for in-person events and webinars.
• Collaborate with the CRU aluminum team across the Americas and overseas.
• Work with sales and marketing to target content appropriately and help grow AMU across social media platforms.
• Edit and shape articles/columns from other contributors to ensure quality and consistency.
• *Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• *Nice to have:
• Master’s degree in journalism, an MBA, or another advanced degree.
• Working knowledge of Spanish or French.
• *Skills & Experience:
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with aluminum industry and scrap market participants.
• Strong track record of working to strict deadlines.
• Concise, audience-focused writing.
• Excellent attention to detail and professional work ethic.
• Commercial awareness and a determination to succeed with a “can do” attitude.
• Comfortable with public speaking and representing the company.
• Team player who supports cross‑unit initiatives.
• Experience crafting social media content that promotes both personal profile and company reach.
• Familiarity with market data practices and standards.
