Senior PostgreSQL Database Engineer
About the position
Huntington is seeking a Senior PostgreSQL Database Engineer's with experience supporting enterprise-grade database environments. The ideal candidate brings strong technical leadership, excels in performance tuning and automation, and enjoys mentoring junior team members while driving best‑in‑class database reliability and security. This position is available to be filled at any Huntington Corporate office location Duties and Responsibilities: Lead and participate in complex database initiatives including upgrades, migrations, architecture planning, and environment standardization. Establish and maintain database configuration standards, security controls, and best practices. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior DBA team members. Deliver advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution for high-impact production issues. Assist in developing a Tier I PostgreSQL support offering for broader organizational use. Implement and manage PostgreSQL-specific controls such as: Continuous database restore validation Baseline drift detection Vulnerability identification and remediation Contribute effectively as a collaborative team member in a fast-paced environment. Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical systems. Produce clear, thorough, and professional documentation. Keeps current and emerging technologies, how they integrate and drive value for Huntington. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or 4+ additional years of relevant experience.
• 5+ years of related experience in database administration within the PostgreSQL database platform, or relevant database platforms.
Nice-to-haves
• Database Expertise: Advanced experience with PostgreSQL installation, configuration, upgrades, migrations, and daily administration. Oracle experience is highly valued and considered a strong differentiator.
• Performance & Monitoring Proven background in performance tuning, optimization, and proactive monitoring using industry-standard tools.
• Automation & DevOps Experience supporting automation efforts using Infrastructure as Code methodologies. Strong scripting abilities: Bash and experience in Python, Perl, or other scripting languages. Hands-on experience with configuration management platforms such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet .
• High Availability & Recovery Expertise in architecting and managing high availability, replication, and backup/recovery solutions.
• Operating Systems Proficiency with Linux/Unix environments.
