As a Senior Manager, Engineering - Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, you will play a critical role in driving our insurance business transformation by leading the development and implementation of VDI solutions that meet the needs of our organization. Job Summary As a Senior Manager, Engineering - Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers to design, develop, and implement VDI solutions that meet the needs of our organization. You will work closely with our Director to address project dependencies, negotiate and estimate incremental delivery dates for milestones with stakeholders, and deliver projects on time. You will also be responsible for identifying and mitigating project risks, reporting on team progress, and presenting detailed and implementable ideas for areas to further improve or influence product or project delivery. Key Responsibilities Lead a team of engineers to design, develop, and implement VDI solutions that meet the needs of our organization Work with Director to address project dependencies, negotiate and estimate incremental delivery dates for milestones with stakeholders, and deliver projects on time Identify and mitigate project risks, and present detailed and implementable solutions or alternatives Report on team progress for project and other key metrics, and present detailed and implementable ideas for areas to further improve or influence product or project delivery Initiate and support performance evaluation of team members, and cultivate a culture that motivates all levels of performers to higher levels of achievement Build and maintain relationships with team members to support an environment of trust, and influence those you motivate and coach to be receptive to feedback Identify where technical or analytical skill gaps put future team deliverables at risk, and craft a plan to remediate Proficiently execute difficult conversations on development and performance, and craft and deliver strategic and well-structured persuasive arguments to drive projects that drive process improvement, enhance cost leadership, and/or customer experience Requirements and Qualifications Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience 6+ years of coding experience, with 5+ years of development in a large-scale, mission-critical environment 5+ years of hands-on work experience supervising personnel in a technical environment 2+ years of experience with automated testing, including Unit, Integration, and End-to-End functional testing Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and core computer science concepts Experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions, including VMware Horizon and Azure Virtual Desktop Knowledge of cloud computing technologies and concepts, including SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, and experience with at least one modern language, such as Python, Java, or Go Preferred Qualifications Experience with digital experimentation and using web analytics data to optimize the online customer experience Knowledge of DTM tagging, including implementation solution design and processing rule set Hands-on experience with Metadata management tools, such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation, or Informatica Experience with application monitoring tools and performance assessments PowerShell scripting experience Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a range of skills and competencies, including: Strong technical expertise in VDI solutions, cloud computing, and software development Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and coach team members Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to craft and deliver persuasive arguments Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality results Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate project risks Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At GEICO, we are committed to providing our associates with opportunities for career growth and development.
