You’ll collaborate within cross-functional agile teams, leverage modern technologies and best practices, and help drive high-impact digital transformation projects from the core.ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and maintain scalable backend systems—primarily in Java (with opportunities for Go/Golang)Develop, integrate, and document robust RESTful APIs to support application features and platform interoperabilityCollaborate with product managers, front-end engineers, DevOps, and QA in an agile environment to deliver high-quality solutionsManage and optimize relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), including schema design, performance tuning, and query optimizationOwn and maintain high-standard version control processes using Git and GitHubDefine technical tasks, assign work, and track team progress in JiraReview code and pull requests (PRs) to ensure adherence to best practices and code quality standardsContribute to the configuration and maintenance of cloud-based infrastructure (primarily GCP)Participate in standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other agile ritualsAbout YouQualifications & Skills5+ years of relevant backend software development experienceDemonstrated proficiency in Java for server-side application development (Go/Golang experience a plus)Hands-on experience with RESTful API design and integrationBasic working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP)Strong background with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including modeling, querying, and optimizationTrack record managing repositories, branches, and PRs in Git and GitHub environmentsPractical experience defining and tracking work in Jira, and supporting agile delivery teamsA commitment to high code quality, team collaboration, and ongoing learningEffective communication and problem-solving skills; able to navigate fast-paced, cross-functional projectsNice to have:Experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code and cloud environment setupFamiliarity with monorepo architectures and Bazel build toolchainsExposure to configuring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (ideally with GitHub Actions)Experience with Argo for workflow automation and deploymentAwareness of monitoring and observability solutions such as DataDog.Monks has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what Media.Monks may pay for the position at the time of posting. .Monks may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range.
