Senior Human Resource Generalist

About the position

The Senior Human Resources Generalist serves as a key HR partner to leaders and employees, providing advanced support in employee relations, performance management, compliance, talent acquisition, and HR operations. This role applies deep knowledge of employment law and HR best practices to guide decision-making, mitigate risk, and foster a positive and productive workplace culture. The Senior HR Generalist independently handles complex HR issues, builds strong relationships across the organization, and contributes to strategic HR initiatives that support organizational success.
This position is based in Phoenix Arizona; Denver Colorado; or Grand Junction, Colorado and requires local residency in one of these base locations. Our strategic flexibility allows for local work from home opportunities.

Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary advisor on complex employee relations issues, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant resolution.
• Conduct investigations into workplace concerns, including harassment, discrimination, misconduct, performance issues, and policy violations.
• Provide coaching and counsel to leaders on employee performance, conduct, corrective action, and conflict resolution.
• Lead the administration of corrective actions and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), ensuring documentation and processes follow organizational standards.
• Partner with leaders to identify organizational health trends and recommend proactive solutions.
• Maintain strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and ensure HR policies and practices align with legal requirements.
• Manage full-cycle recruitment for assigned roles, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and selection.
• Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and develop effective recruiting strategies.
• Support offer development, negotiation, and onboarding processes for new hires.
• Improve recruiting processes and contribute to long-term talent pipeline development.
• Administer HR programs including compensation, benefits, leave management, and HRIS data integrity.
• Support compliance activities such as audits, reporting, and process reviews.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
• Support offboarding activities, including exit interviews and termination documentation.
• Support initiatives that enhance employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture.
• Provide guidance to employees on HR-related questions, policies, and benefits.
• Participate in HR projects, process improvement efforts, and organizational change initiatives.
• Build strong relationships with leaders to serve as a trusted HR business partner.

Requirements
• Strong working knowledge of state and federal employment laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, etc.).
• Demonstrated experience leading employee relations investigations and producing well-documented findings.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and provide solutions in complex or ambiguous situations.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with HRIS/HCMS and Applicant Tracking Systems; Microsoft Office Suite required.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
• Minimum of 5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience required.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience in healthcare or technology preferred.
• Experience supporting multi-state workforces a plus.
• PHR or SHRM-CP strongly desired.
• Experience with BambooHR, UKG, or similar systems a plus.
