Senior Frontend Engineer - New Business

In this role, you’ll be joining a “startup within a startup,” owning the mobile side of things for a new business at Skylight . You’ll be confident building whole features on your own, while working closely with the core team to follow best practices and review one another’s code. You have a keen interest in not just what you’re building, but why you’re building it, working closely with Product to trim scope whenever possible to best serve the user. You value good UX and are interested in delivering the simplest solutions to solve pains and delight users. Our ideal candidate is well-versed in all things React and React Native, from best practices in release management to the ins and outs of the Android and iOS App Stores. We’re looking for someone who can contribute to the entire frontend development process, beginning with collaborating with Design and Product through planning and working with other engineers/teams, execution, and release. Responsibilities Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to develop and implement new features Write high-quality, reusable, and maintainable code in React and React Native Contribute to and maintain a comprehensive test suite to ensure the quality and stability of the application Optimize application performance and improve the user experience Implement best practices in our build and deployment processes Ensuring that our architecture enables scaling both our team and user-base Establishing processes for monitoring performance, device logs, and exceptions Mentor and guide other Front End engineers on the team Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve code quality Requirements Extensive experience (5+ years) developing React Native & Typescript Strong understanding of frontend architecture and design patterns Expertise in the release management cycle Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with others Passion for learning and staying up-to-date with new technologies and trends Benefits Benefits Our competitive compensation package includes: Competitive Salary + Equity Package 401K matching Wellness, learning, and home-office budgets Health, Dental & Vision Medical Plans Tremendous autonomy to set the direction of your work Unlimited PTO Company holidays on the first Friday of every month (Except November & December) About Skylight Skylight is a technology startup based out of Los Angeles and San Francisco.
