Senior EVS Operator
About the position The Senior EVS Operator at Warner Bros. Discovery will lead the EVS team, providing expertise and training to fellow operators. This role is crucial for ensuring high-quality live and taped productions by managing playback, recording, and editing processes, while also troubleshooting technical issues. The operator will collaborate closely with production teams to meet the video needs of broadcasts and maintain effective workflows. Responsibilities • Operate EVS and file server equipment for live and taped productions. • Train new staff and temporary EVS operators on various playback and editing techniques. • Collaborate with the Show Producer and Assistant Director to enhance storytelling through video. • Produce quick turn editing for replays and highlight packages under tight deadlines. • Anticipate and prepare necessary clips for later airings. • Archive video and audio clips to maintain effective storage levels. • Create documentation for EVS machine workflows and ensure all staff are trained on these processes. • Identify and resolve technical problems in the EVS workflow in collaboration with technical teams. • Attend meetings to represent the EVS team and provide input on production needs. • Create weekly documentation for playout station assignments. Requirements • 8 - 10 years of network level broadcast production experience as a Lead EVS Operator. • In-depth knowledge of File Server operations (IP Director, XFile). • Strong understanding of video and audio router operations. • Ability to create and understand documentation for EVS workflows. • Excellent leadership and communication skills. • Ability to handle pressures of live programming and time constraints. • Good computer skills and a creative eye. Nice-to-haves • Knowledge of iNews • Familiarity with major sports (NBA, MLB, NHL, US Soccer) • Awareness of new technologies in the industry.
