Senior Engineer, Security Automation

Remote Full-time
Description
• Join Twilio as a Senior Engineer, Security Automation, a pivotal role within our Information Security Team, dedicated to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our critical security workflows through advanced automation and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
• This position is instrumental in supporting Twilio’s Information Security Team by developing and implementing cutting-edge automated solutions that streamline operations and bolster our security posture across the organization.
• As a Software Engineer on this team, you will be deeply involved in the entire software development lifecycle, from initial requirements gathering with security stakeholders to technical design, effort estimation, sprint planning, hands-on coding, rigorous testing, seamless deployments, and providing essential on-call support.
• You will take ownership of, operate, and maintain automated workflows that underpin various vital security programs, including but not limited to cloud security, product security, Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC), and broader enterprise security initiatives.
• Employing Agile methodologies, you will continuously deliver value to our internal partners by ensuring our security automation tools and processes are robust, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.
• A core responsibility will be to develop and implement sophisticated automated and AI-powered security solutions designed to protect Twilio's extensive Cloud and Enterprise infrastructure.
• This involves leveraging advanced data orchestration frameworks and exploring innovative LLM-based approaches to create intelligent and adaptive security measures.
• You will be tasked with building robust workflows that seamlessly integrate diverse data sources, both structured and unstructured, into orchestrated pipelines.
• These pipelines will be critical for enabling intelligent decision-making, proactive risk reduction, and efficient security operations at a massive scale.
• A significant aspect of the role includes designing and prototyping cutting-edge LLM-driven applications specifically tailored to automate complex security analysis, streamline incident response procedures, and enhance governance tasks.
• A key focus will be on ensuring the explainability, accuracy, and reliability of these AI-driven security solutions.
• You will foster strong collaborations with cross-functional teams across Twilio to deeply understand their unique security needs and subsequently deliver advanced AI-enabled solutions that effectively address these requirements.
• This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to defining Twilio’s strategic roadmap for security automation and AI integration.
• You will play a key part in balancing immediate business impacts with long-term technical feasibility, scalability, and strategic vision.
• You will assume ownership and responsibility for the ongoing operational health of all automation and AI-driven systems developed by the team.
• This includes ensuring these systems consistently meet stringent reliability and performance requirements, adhering to defined Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• You will provide crucial support for on-call operations, addressing any issues that arise with the tools, pipelines, and AI models managed by the team.
• A commitment to knowledge sharing is essential; you will be responsible for documenting and disseminating information through clear, comprehensive technical documentation covering processes, procedures, AI models, and orchestration systems.
• Continuous learning is paramount; you will stay abreast of the latest emerging trends and advancements in security automation, data orchestration, and AI/LLMs, actively applying this knowledge to Twilio’s security operations to drive ongoing innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
• This role is ideal for a proactive and innovative engineer who thrives in a dynamic, remote-first environment and is passionate about leveraging technology to solve complex security challenges at scale.
