What You'll Do as a Principal Data Engineer Lead the architectural direction of our new data estate, defining the patterns and blueprints that will shape our platform for years to come. Manage and develop a team of data engineers, driving hiring, performance and professional development. Implement modern engineering standards across CI/CD, automated testing, observability and cost control. Partner with the Data Delivery Lead to balance short-term fixes with long-term strategic build. What You Bring as a Principal Data Engineer ~ Degree in Computer Science, Data Science or a related field. ~5 to 8 years in data engineering or hands-on data architecture, with at least 3 years in a leadership position. ~ Expert level proficiency in Databricks, Azure and SQL/Python, with GCP and BigQuery experience highly desirable. ~ A proven track record of refactoring legacy data estates and migrating them to modern platforms without disrupting business continuity. ~ A player-coach mindset, equally comfortable leading a team and writing production-grade code. ~ High emotional intelligence with the ability to manage non-technical stakeholders and present confidently to senior leadership.
