The Role: Senior Electrical Engineer - Product Development As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will lead the design and development of electrical systems supporting Switch data center products. This role exists to ensure electrical infrastructure is resilient, scalable, and aligned with performance, cost, and operational standards. You will work within the Design Engineering team to define standards, guide design decisions, and support projects from concept through construction. Your work directly impacts system reliability, efficiency, and long-term infrastructure performance. This position may require the candidate/employee to undergo additional background checks and drug screenings prior to and during the course of employment in support of customer-specific deployments. What You�ll Do Lead electrical design efforts for data center products and infrastructure systems Develop and maintain design standards, specifications, and Basis of Design documentation Serve as technical authority for medium- and low-voltage systems, including UPS, switchgear, generators, grounding, and protection schemes Manage and review work performed by external engineering consultants Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency, cost, and performance Collaborate with internal teams including construction, operations, and engineering Coordinate with vendors, utilities, inspectors, and contractors Support RFP development and evaluate design proposals Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and Switch requirements Support site visits, design reviews, and project execution activities Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and product development Travel up to 25% as required What We�re Looking For You apply strong engineering judgment to complex infrastructure systems You balance reliability, cost, and speed-to-market in design decisions You communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders You take ownership of design outcomes and follow through to completion You identify risks early and implement practical solutions You collaborate effectively across teams and disciplines What You�ll Bring Required: Bachelor�s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field 8+ years of experience in electrical design for data centers or mission-critical facilities Strong knowledge of electrical systems including protection, grounding, generators, UPS, and battery systems Experience interpreting and applying codes such as NEC, NFPA, UL, ANSI, and utility standards Experience managing external design consultants Strong communication and technical documentation skills Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) license Experience with both greenfield and brownfield projects Experience presenting technical concepts to stakeholders or leadership Experience working with AHJs, utilities, and cross-disciplinary teams We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every preferred qualification.
