Primary Responsibilities: Design, build, and maintain scalable data engineering solutions using Azure Databricks, PySpark, SQL, and Snowflake across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Architect and implement data lake and lakehouse solutions on Azure (ADLS, Databricks, Snowflake) Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, batch and near real time data processing workflows Establish, refine, and integrate development, CI/CD, orchestration, and monitoring tools (GitHub, Azure DevOps, Airflow, Databricks Jobs) Provide technical leadership and consultation for data platform, performance tuning, and cloud infrastructure–related questions Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into robust data architecture and technical designs Ensure data quality, reliability, security, and compliance, especially for healthcare data Lead code reviews, enforce best practices, and drive standards for data engineering and analytics development Mentor and guide junior engineers and offshore teams, acting as a technical leader and trusted advisor Work closely with Infra, Cloud, and DBA teams for deployments, upgrades, capacity planning, and performance optimization Support production systems, participate in on call/application support, and handle critical incidents when required Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and platform modernization Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so Required Qualifications: Graduate degree or equivalent experience 3+ years of overall experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or Data Lake implementations Solid hands on experience with: Azure Databricks PySpark / Spark SQL Advanced SQL Snowflake Proven experience designing and implementing Data Lakes / Lakehouse architectures on Azure Cloud Healthcare domain experience (3+ years minimum) with strong understanding of data sensitivity, compliance, and regulatory requirements Solid experience working with business stakeholders to gather requirements and propose end to end data architecture solutions Experience coordinating with offshore teams and collaborating with Infrastructure / Cloud teams for deployments, upgrades, and production support Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies, CI/CD practices, and DevOps for data platforms Willingness to work in application support models, including flexible working hours when required Proven excellent analytical, problem solving, and performance tuning skills, with the ability to bring innovative solutions that add business value At UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
