About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in data engineering, with expertise in ETL processes, SQL, Python programming, and workflow orchestration using Airflow. You will be responsible for building, maintaining, and evolving a flexible and modular ETL process backed in Python, with a focus on healthcare data models, particularly FHIR and Google BigQuery.

What You’ll Do
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines in Python to process large volumes of healthcare data.
• Implement and optimize ETL workflows using Airflow.
• Develop complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
• Collaborate with software engineers, analysts, and other users to understand data needs and deliver high-quality data solutions across a wide variety of data sources.
• Ensure data quality, data integrity and consistency across various sources and destinations.
• Monitor and troubleshoot ETL processes to ensure optimal performance.
• Document ETL processes and workflows for maintainability and scalability.
• Support client FTP setup and ongoing support.
• Mentorship of other data engineers to ensure cross-functional learning and continuous development.
• Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies in data engineering and healthcare data.

What You’ll Need
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Analytics, Information Technology or related discipline.
• Data Engineering: 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, specifically in ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and SQL.
• Automation: Proven experience in building automated ETL flows.
• Programming: Professional experience in Python for data manipulation and automation.
• Data Warehousing: Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts.
• Workflow Orchestration: Proficiency in using Airflow for workflow orchestration

Preferred Qualifications
• Healthcare: Experience with healthcare payor and clinical data would be highly beneficial. Familiarity with healthcare data models, such as FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources), is a plus.
• Big Data Technologies: Experience with other big data technologies and frameworks beyond SQL and Airflow.
• Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Database: Experience with Google BigQuery is a strong plus.
• Healthcare Regulations: Understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance, such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).

Where you are located
• This role is remote and requires availability within North American time zones, with occasional travel to other corporate locations as necessary.
