The Role: Senior Data Engineer II in Our Ring Data Warehouse

This is an advanced-level data engineering position within careerzynith's Ring Data Warehouse team. You'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust data pipelines that support critical business operations across multiple domains including product development, finance, marketing, and customer experience. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities


Design and implement state-of-the-art data pipelines using both native AWS services and careerzynith's proprietary tools and technologies
Collaborate closely with business partners to understand their data requirements and translate them into technically sound solutions
Ensure data quality through proper modeling, integration, and adherence to data governance standards
Maintain and optimize existing data infrastructure to meet evolving business needs and performance requirements
Perform code reviews and enforce best practices for ETL processes and data quality across engineering teams
Research and evaluate emerging technologies and methodologies to continuously improve our data architecture
Develop tools and frameworks that enhance data accessibility and usability for both internal teams and external partners
Address complex data challenges related to data security, privacy compliance, and regulatory requirements

Your typical day might involve:


Gathering and analyzing requirements from business partners across various verticals including Product Development, Sales, Finance, and Operations
Building new data ingestion pipelines using a combination of native AWS services and careerzynith's internal tools
Maintaining and optimizing existing data pipelines to ensure they meet evolving standards and business requirements
Developing internal tools and frameworks to improve data management capabilities across the organization
Conducting code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices in ETL and data quality
Collaborating with data scientists and analysts to understand their data needs and develop appropriate solutions
Troubleshooting complex data quality issues and implementing preventative measures
Staying current with emerging data technologies and methodologies that could benefit our organization


About the Ring Data Warehouse Team

The careerzynith Ring Data Warehouse team manages the integrated data repository for our entire smart home ecosystem. We collect and distribute data from numerous internal and external sources, serving as the foundation for data-driven decision making across the organization. Our data supports critical functions including product development, finance, supply chain, marketing, customer service, and sales analytics.

Essential Qualifications


3+ years of professional data engineering experience with a focus on data pipeline development and maintenance
Strong expertise in data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and ETL pipeline development
Proficiency in SQL with experience in writing complex queries and optimizing database performance
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and translate business requirements into technical solutions
Experience with data security and privacy compliance requirements and implementation
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders


Preferred Qualifications


Experience with AWS services including Redshift, S3, Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda, and IAM permissions and roles

Familiarity with non-relational databases/data stores including object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, and column-family databases

The compensation for this position reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base salary range for this position goes from $105,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market.
