ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Sr. Data Engineer to lead our growing team to fight climate change. This role is a tech lead role with high autonomy and opportunity for growth. You will manage a small team initially and are looking to grow into a manager role as the company grows.
As the data team, we strive to design and build data products and systems that are reliable, scalable, and maintainable. Some of the traits that we promote within the team are ownership, curiosity, transparency, and a strong writing culture. As an early team member, you will be expected to help shape our product direction and to strengthen the team’s culture.
You will collaborate closely with ML engineers, software engineers, data analysts, and sustainability experts to ship products that create value and solve problems for our customers.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
Own the entire end-to-end data platform technology stack which includes our analytical databases, orchestration layer, dashboards and automations.Assist to maintain our proprietary Carbon Database which powers the engine for emissions estimates.Design, implement and maintain data pipelines to collect, process and store data from various sources.Develop and maintain our data warehouse and other complementary data storage systems to ensure high quality data.Develop and maintain data quality checks and monitoring systems.Collaborate with data scientists and analysts as well as other teams such as sustainability to provide clean data in systems that serve internal stakeholders as well as Unravel Carbon’s customers.Lead and mentor a small team of data engineer.Stay up-to-date with the latest data engineering technologies and tools.Work on internal AI automations

ABOUT YOU
You have >4 years of experience in data engineering/software engineering roles in technology and data-centric businessesYou have driven high business impact and shipped data engineering solutions to production.You have experience in Python as the main programming language and SQLYou possess excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.You are curious, eager to learn and ask good questions.You see the potential of AI and are excited to leverage AI and build agentsYou can be independent in your work, planning and executing tasks with minimal guidance, depending on the task.You enjoy speaking and communicating with others across functions to better understand their needs.You thrive in an environment that is fast-paced and where everyone cares deeply.You have experience with AWS / GCP / Azure and Snowflake/Databricks/Bigquery

Bonus points ifYou have some familiarity with MongoDB or other non-relational databasesYou have experience working on data engineering projects or with data engineering tools like orchestration tools.
