Role Description
This is an ongoing fractional role for a Senior Cosmetic Chemist — not a one-time project. You'll work directly with the founder to lead formulation development and optimization for our intimate care product line, with a strong focus on microbiome compatibility, clinical validation support, and regulatory documentation. This is a hands-on scientific ownership role — you'll review and optimize existing formulations, evaluate raw materials, prepare technical dossiers, and support third-party testing coordination. You won't be managing a team; you'll be a trusted scientific partner to a founder who knows exactly what she's building and needs someone equally rigorous to help build it.
Qualifications
• 3–7+ years of formulation experience in cosmetics, personal care, or intimate wellness, with a track record of stable, safe, consumer-ready formulations
• Applied knowledge of microbiome science in relation to skin or feminine health, including ingredient selection that supports microbial balance
• Experience with preservative system evaluation, stability and compatibility testing, and preparation of formulation dossiers
• Familiarity with cosmetic and OTC regulatory requirements including FDA labeling, MoCRA compliance, and safety substantiation
• Comfortable working directly with a founder in an early-stage environment — you're a clear communicator who can translate complex science into decisions
• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field; intimate care or dermatological product experience strongly preferred
Compensation: $75–$95/hr | Ongoing fractional engagement | Remote
