About This RoleWe are seeking an experienced Senior Controller to join our growing property management company and oversee the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of our financial operations.This role is responsible for leading the corporate accounting team, overseeing accounting processes across the organization, and ensuring strong financial reporting and internal controls. The Senior Controller will also provide oversight of the company’s third-party accounting platform and partner closely with leadership to support operational growth, financial planning, and strategic decision-making.This position is ideal for a finance leader who is both strategic and hands-on, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and motivated by building strong systems and teams that support continued growth.Responsibilities assigned to this position may include:Accounting Operations & Financial ReportingOversee all core accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reportingEnsure timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processesPrepare and review financial statements, management reports, and variance analysesMaintain compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory standardsEstablish and maintain effective internal controls and accounting policiesCorporate Accounting LeadershipProvide leadership and oversight of the corporate accounting teamMentor and develop accounting staff while ensuring consistency and accountability across accounting processesProvide guidance on complex accounting matters and financial reporting standardsFoster a culture of accuracy, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the accounting functionThird-Party Accounting Platform OversightOversee and manage the company’s relationship with its third-party accounting platform/providerEnsure proper system functionality, financial data accuracy, and alignment with company accounting policiesPartner with internal teams and external providers to improve processes, reporting capabilities, and operational efficienciesFinancial Planning & Strategic SupportSupport executive leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planningMonitor financial performance, key metrics, and cash flowProvide analysis and insights that support operational and strategic decision-makingAssist with financial modeling related to growth, acquisitions, or new property management opportunitiesCompliance, Audit & Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulationsCoordinate external audits and work with outside auditors and tax advisorsMaintain audit-ready financial documentation and reportingIdentify and mitigate financial and operational risksProcess ImprovementEvaluate and improve accounting systems, workflows, and financial reporting processesSupport the implementation and optimization of accounting software and financial toolsPartner with operational teams to streamline financial processes across the organizationQualifications RequiredBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field8+ years of progressive accounting experience3–5+ years of leadership or supervisory experienceExperience in property management accountingStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standardsAdvanced proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft ExcelProven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environmentPreferred QualificationsCPA or CMA certificationExperience in real estate, or multi-entity accounting environmentsExperience working with third-party accounting platforms or outsourced accounting functionsExperience supporting organizations undergoing rapid growth or operational expansionWork EnvironmentThis role may be performed remotely, with preference to candidates in Oregon, Washington, Arizona or Texas.
