Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Claims Representative – Commercial Specialty / General Liability to manage moderate to complex commercial claims involving bodily injury and property damage. This role is responsible for independently investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving third-party General Liability claims, including matters involving unique, specialized, or high-risk exposures beyond standard commercial policies.

Work Location

This position offers both remote and hybrid work locations. Candidates who reside within 50 miles of an office location (West Bend, Madison, Appleton) will be offered a hybrid work schedule. Candidates who are fully remote (beyond 50 miles) may occasionally be asked to travel to an office location for in-person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and corporate events.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

If you’re the kind of claims professional who enjoys digging into complex files, solving challenging problems, and making smart, confident decisions, this could be the role for you.

We’re looking for a Senior Commercial Specialty/General Liability Claims Representative to join our Commercial Specialty Claims team - someone who can step into complicated General Liability claims involving bodily injury, property damage, and high-exposure situations and confidently lead them from investigation through resolution.

This isn’t a role built around routine claims handling. It’s an opportunity to take ownership of meaningful, high-impact work that requires critical thinking, strong negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of commercial liability exposures. You’ll manage complex claims independently while collaborating with internal partners, supporting best practices, and serving as a trusted technical resource for the team.

Day to day, you’ll investigate and evaluate claims, assess liability and coverage, negotiate resolutions, and develop thoughtful strategies that balance fairness, efficiency, and business outcomes. You’ll also play an important role in helping elevate file quality and mentoring others by sharing your expertise and insight.

We’re looking for someone who brings strong analytical instincts, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences. The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating complex situations with minimal supervision and thrives in an environment where collaboration and continuous improvement are valued.

Experience handling large or complex commercial claims is strongly preferred, along with excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with modern claims systems and technology is important, and industry designations such as AIC, AINS, or CPCU coursework are highly valued.

Most importantly, this is a chance to join a collaborative team where your expertise truly matters. You’ll have the opportunity to work on sophisticated claims, contribute to meaningful improvements, and make a visible impact - both on the files you manage and the people you work alongside.

Salary Statement

The salary range for this position is $68,000-$86,000.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. Compensation decisions are made by West Bend and are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
