Senior Bookkeeper I (Director I)Out of the Box Technology
OverviewThe Senior Bookkeeper I is a highly skilled accounting professional responsible for managing complex client accounts, ensuring financial accuracy, and mentoring junior staff. This role is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented individual with advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Desktop (QBD), financial reporting, and reconciliations.
This position supports clients independently and in collaboration with senior accounting staff. It includes opportunities to lead workflows, provide advisory services, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced, tech-enabled environment.
Primary Responsibilities


Oversee multiple client accounts, ensuring accurate and timely financial data.


Review and guide junior bookkeepers, resolving complex transactions and reconciliation issues.


Perform advanced reconciliations (bank, credit card) and troubleshoot discrepancies.


Manage full-cycle accounts payable and receivable, including vendor bill and invoice processing.


Prepare and analyze financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).


Handle complex payroll transactions and ensure tax compliance at all levels.


Mentor Bookkeeper I and II team members to support skill development.


Core Bookkeeping Functions
Accounting & Data Management


Record complex transactions and ensure accuracy in QBO/QBD.


Accurately categorize income and expenses in alignment with client charts of accounts.


Maintain the general ledger, post journal entries, and correct discrepancies.


Oversee AP/AR processes, including payments, receivables tracking, and issue resolution.


QuickBooks Expertise


Set up and maintain client files, customizing QBO/QBD structures based on business needs.


Leverage bank feeds for efficient categorization and reconciliation.


Generate standard financial reports and assist with payroll processing and filings.


Compliance & Reporting


Ensure data integrity through regular review and cleanup.


Monitor sales tax tracking, filing, and remittance.


Lead month-end and year-end closings; support audit readiness with thorough documentation.


Client & Vendor Relations


Serve as the primary contact for client financial questions and insights.


Manage vendor relationships and timely bill payments.


Review and process employee reimbursements in line with policies.


Operational Excellence


Adhere to Out of the Box Technology's standard operating procedures.


Stay informed on QuickBooks updates and industry best practices.


Collaborate with senior accountants on advisory and reporting tasks.

Qualifications


Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.


Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping experience, ideally in a multi-client or franchise environment.


Advanced proficiency with QBO and QBD.


Familiarity with payroll, sales tax compliance, and financial reporting.
