Senior Backend Engineer (Platform | AWS)

Responsibilities
Design and implement automation solutions to improve developer productivity and system reliability.
Build and maintain shared platform services, libraries, and infrastructure components.
Develop integration patterns and tooling for internal systems and third-party services.
Provide architectural guidance and technical consultation to product engineering teams.
Implement and maintain contract testing frameworks to reduce integration errors.
Work with authentication and identity systems such as SSO, SAML, and OAuth.
Contribute to event-driven architectures using message buses and asynchronous patterns.
Create technical documentation, architectural decision records, and integration guides.
Participate in code reviews and help establish engineering standards and best practices.
Requirements
5+ years of software engineering experience.
2+ years in a senior or platform-focused role.
Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages, preferably Ruby or Python; Node.js and Go are also accepted.
Good experience with AWS services, including Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito, DynamoDB, and SQS/SNS.
Solid understanding of microservices architecture, API design, and distributed systems.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and deployment automation.
Familiarity with message queues and event-driven patterns such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar.
Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Nice to Have
Experience with contract testing tools, healthcare technology, HIPAA/HiTrust, identity federation, WebSockets, developer tools, SDKs, shared libraries, SQL, or GraphQL.
