Senior Backend Engineer

You will join Codility’s Hire team, responsible for core hiring workflows across Screen, Interview and Events, as well as Trust - the systems that help protect assessment integrity and reduce cheating. The team builds the tools and workflows behind how companies screen engineers, run technical interviews and manage hiring.
Impact you’ll have
Shape core product experiences.
Help customers run better technical hiring processes globally.
Contribute across the stack to deliver thoughtful, reliable product improvements.
What you’ll do
Build product features end to end, with a strong focus on Python backend development using Django and FastAPI, while contributing to React and other parts of the stack where needed.
Work closely with Product, Design and engineers to turn problems into simple, effective solutions.
Make pragmatic technical decisions and build scalable, resilient and observable systems.
Contribute to cloud and infrastructure work where needed, with AWS being the main environment.
Help move the product forward, not just within a narrow ownership area.
Contribute to product iteration in a distributed team where engineers have real ownership and a say in what gets built and how.
Actively leverage AI and LLM tools to accelerate engineering work, improve quality and help shape better ways of building across the team.
What we’re looking for
Strong backend engineering experience, ideally in Python (Django and/or FastAPI)
Some frontend (React) experience, with the ability to contribute anywhere across the stack when needed.
Track record of building and shipping product features end to end.
Experience working in a distributed product team with ownership, iteration and meaningful engineering input.
Good product judgment and strong instincts around tradeoffs, maintainability and user impact.
Nice to have
Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, Celery, AWS, Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience building or operating observable production systems.
Experience with real-time collaboration features, experimentation, analytics, search or ranking.
