Job Description: Senior AI Engineer (Backend & AI Systems) Locations: Prague, Czechia (Hybrid/Remote options available) Austin, Texas US (Hybrid/Remote options available) Position: Full-time Reports to: Systems Engineering, Manager About the Project: We are a small, highly focused team building a sophisticated, modular AI platform designed to automate and reason through complex business and technical challenges. Our vision is to create a powerful assistant that is both intelligent and extensible. Our development philosophy is centered on a clean, service-oriented architecture. We are building a system where a central AI orchestrator communicates with a growing ecosystem of specialized tools via a robust gRPC-based fabric. We leverage a modern data stack (PostgreSQL and Vector Databases) and integrate powerful Large Language Models (like NVIDIA NIM and open-source alternatives) to form the system's core intelligence. We build in a close partnership with a sophisticated AI assistant in a workflow we call "Vibe Coding". This elevates the role of the engineer. Instead of spending most of your time on manual, line-by-line coding, you will focus on: • Architectural Guidance: Directing the AI with high-level goals, architectural patterns, and the "vibe" of what needs to be built. • Expert Review & Integration: Critically reviewing AI-generated code for correctness, efficiency, and adherence to our standards, then weaving it into the broader system. • Rapid Iteration: Leveraging AI to prototype, build, and refactor complex components at a speed impossible with traditional methods. What You'll Do: As a key member of our founding team, you will play a critical role in developing the core backend and AI capabilities of our platform. Your work will be varied and fundamental to our success: • Build the Backend Fabric: Guide the AI-augmented development of high-performance, modular Python services that form the backbone of our ecosystem. • Architect API-Driven Communication: Implement and evolve the gRPC-based APIs that enable seamless, efficient communication between the orchestrator and its various tools. • Orchestrate AI & LLMs: Integrate and harness Large Language Models to drive complex workflows, tool selection, and advanced reasoning capabilities. • Develop Scalable Data Strategies: Architect and manage our data persistence layer, combining the strengths of relational (PostgreSQL) and vector (ChromaDB) databases. • Create Robust Data Pipelines: Build and optimize the data ingestion and processing pipelines that continuously enrich our AI's knowledge base. • Collaborate on Core Architecture: Work directly with the Lead Architect to solve challenging technical problems, make key design decisions, and guide the platform's technical direction. Who You Are (Qualifications): We're looking for a talented and versatile backend engineer who is passionate about building well-architected systems and is excited by the creative possibilities of modern, AI-driven development. Required Skills & Experience: • 5+ years of professional experience building complex, scalable backend systems. • Expert-level Python proficiency, with a deep understanding of object-oriented design, concurrency, and best practices. • Strong, demonstrable experience designing and building APIs (gRPC is a significant advantage; extensive REST/FastAPI experience is also highly valued). • Solid experience with PostgreSQL (or similar relational databases) and proficiency with an ORM like SQLAlchemy. • Practical understanding of Vector Databases (e.g., ChromaDB, Milvus) and their role in AI applications like RAG. • Hands-on mastery of Docker for building, shipping, and running applications. • Experience integrating with third-party LLM APIs and a solid grasp of concepts like tool calling and prompt engineering. • A forward-thinking mindset with a demonstrable ability to understand, review, and integrate complex codebases, including those generated with AI assistance. Bonus Points (Highly Desirable): • A strong aptitude for "Vibe Coding" is a significant advantage. We are looking for someone who is not just open to, but genuinely excited about, an AI-augmented development workflow. • Deep, hands-on experience designing and implementing a production gRPC ecosystem. • Experience building end-to-end Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems. • Background in infrastructure automation, DevOps, or systems engineering.
