Senior Accountant - Remote Opportunity
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join their finance department. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the United States. The successful candidate will be responsible for a broad range of accounting functions, including general ledger management, financial statement preparation, and contributing to month-end and year-end close processes. This role requires a strong understanding of GAAP, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills. You will collaborate closely with other accounting team members and external auditors, utilizing advanced accounting software and communication tools to maintain seamless operations in a remote setting.
Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records. Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation. Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes. Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP. Analyze financial data and provide explanations for variances. Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations. Assist with the preparation of tax filings and other regulatory reporting. Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and internal controls. Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and regulations. Contribute to the implementation and improvement of accounting systems and software. Collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders across different departments.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, preferably with some public accounting experience. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment. CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred. Experience with process improvement and internal controls is a plus.
