JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Senior Accountant Department Code & Name: 211-Finance-Club FLSA Status: Exempt Location: Remote (U.S.-based) with occasional travel for site visits and business-related events About LOVB (League One Volleyball): League One Volleyball (LOVB) is reimagining women's sports. Volleyball is already the #1 most played girls' youth sport. There are 38M current and former players today. Of major sports, it's the only one that is women-first (~90% of players are female). But the volleyball market has been almost entirely missed by traditional sports investors, brands, and media. In this role, you will join a mission-driven, roll-up-your-sleeves team of innovators and builders who have come together to change the paradigm of professional volleyball and womenβs sports. Job Summary: Providing mentorship to the accounting team, collaborating with upper management on complex accounting matters, internal controls and providing best practice techniques. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Oversight of Daily Operations: β Complete ownership of various club books across all GL accounts in accordance with US GAAP. β Review, analyze, implement and maintain the organization's accounting operation; establish, develop, and/or recommend objectives, policies, and procedures to management to identify risks and as part of audit readiness. Monthly Closing: β Timely month-end closing of the GL and preparation of all related reports and reconciliations, including operational accounting - GL, AP, fixed assets, payroll accruals, intercompany accounting, and consolidation Innovation and Efficiency: β Build efficiencies through maximizing systems automated processes and integrations. β Research, analyze, and interpret complex technical accounting issues and new accounting standards β Support annual audits performed by external auditors β Identify opportunities for process improvements to scale and automate manual procedures β Assist management in completing special projects and analyses on an ad-hoc basis Continuous Improvement: β Improve and enhance best practice processes, procedures and internal controls. Promoting operational efficiency and compliance β Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders β Participate in various ad hoc projects and analysis Required Skills/Abilities: β Internal controls β Inter company reconciliations β GL account reconciliations and work papers β Best practice processes and procedures β Process and review various journal entries β Ad hoc financial reporting β Knowledge of US GAAP β Ability to maintain a good balance between strategy and action, as this role is expected to contribute to tactical executions when necessary β Enjoys and thrives working in a busy and dynamic environment β Ability to think on feet and handle competing priorities β Solutions orientated knowing when to escalate potential issues and challenges β A collaborator with excellent communication skills β Ability to work with various departments; FP&A, AP, Payroll, Club Operations β A clear and friendly communication style with strong listening skills, both written and verbal β Must be a positive, proactive, think outside the box, and organized team player β A mind for detailβyou can tell when somethingβs off β Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as ability to collaborate closely with a team that is distributed remotely β Ability to handle sensitive information with complete confidentiality β Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize appropriately and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal guidance β High degree of flexibility and ready to learn as we are a startup, so things are always evolving.
