Job Overview
As a Senior Accountant at VeldCo, you’ll be the mastermind behind our daily financial operations, delivering razor-sharp reports and providing strategic insights to fuel business success. This role goes beyond number-crunching—you’ll tackle complex financial puzzles, streamline processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial strategies with organizational goals. The Senior Accountant will work closely with Management to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all accounting activities. This is a primarily office-based position with flexibility for remote work when needed.
Key Responsibilities
• Accounting Operations & Reporting
• Perform daily accounting operations and ensure adherence to GAAP standards, policies, and principles.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statement reports with precision and timeliness.
• Monitor and analyze accounting data, reconciling transactions and making adjusting entries as necessary.
• Accounts Receivable & Compliance
• Assist in managing the accounts receivable process, including preparing monthly client billings and distributing to appropriate parties.
• Assist with annual 1099 filings, sales tax returns and excise tax return filings.
• Assist with tax planning, compliance, and audit preparation.
• Collaboration & Support
• Work with other departments to align financial strategies and support business decision-making.
• Assist the accounts payable team as needed to ensure smooth operations.
• Serve as a resource for staff, addressing questions and resolving issues as they arise.
• Process Improvement & Projects
• Identify opportunities to build efficiencies and provide recommendations for process improvements.
• Take on miscellaneous accounting projects as requested by managers
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably with a public accounting background.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP financials and experience with financial statement preparation and analysis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and excellent computer skills.
• Experience with sales tax and/or income tax is preferred but not required.
• Self-starter with strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle pressure while managing multiple tasks.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with a team-player mindset.
• Strong time-management skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
