Seeking independent consultants to join a project-based consulting bench

OVERVIEW EquiVant Strategies (EVS) is building a small, project-based consulting bench to support upcoming consulting engagements across public sector, nonprofit, and mission-aligned organizations. EVS works on structured, deliverable-focused engagements that require clear and steady judgment and practice execution. This bench is intended for project teaming and time-bound project delivery, not full-time employment. Bench members may be invited to participate in specific projects when scope, timing, and expertise align. TYPES OF ROLES WE ARE BUILDING CAPACITY FOR Candidates may align with one or more of the following functional roles: 1. Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) Deep experience in one or more of the following areas - Economic Development - Workforce Development - Community Engagement - Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Access (D.E.I.A.) - Organizational Development - Monitoring & Evaluation 2. Research & Analysis Consultants Experience in data synthesis, benchmarking, surveys, policy or landscape analysis, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) & place-based analysis 3. Facilitators & Public Engagement Leads Experience facilitating stakeholder interviews, focus groups, and community sessions. 4. Strategic Writers & Planners Experience creating and/or guiding strategic plans or processes, implementation roadmaps, and reports. WHAT BEING ON THE BENCH MEANS - Bench membership does not guarantee work. - Consultants are contracted on a project-by-project basis. - Availability, scope, and rates are confirmed before inclusion in any proposal or engagement. - If selected for a project, work is performed as an independent subcontractor. IDEAL BACKGROUND - Prior experience with public-sector, nonprofit, or philanthropic clients. - Comfort working within structured scopes, timelines, and review processes. - Ability to translate expertise into clear, implementable deliverables. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Familiarity with state or local government environments - specifically within the District of Columbia (DC), Maryland (MD), and/or New York (NY) - is a plus. HOW EVS WORKS WITH BENCH CONSULTANTS EVS prioritizes clear roles, realistic expectations, and transparent communication. Projects are intentionally scoped to avoid overextension and last-minute surprises. Bench consultants are engaged as partners in delivery, with clearly defined roles and expectations aligned up front. HOW TO EXPRESS INTEREST Please submit a brief note outlining the following: 1.
