ABOUT THE POSITION

As a member of the Corporate Operations Department, Safety & Compliance Auditors are responsible for evaluating workplace areas to identify hazards, providing technical guidance on site safety, audit recordkeeping for adherence to company or regulatory compliance issues. The Safety & Compliance Auditor provides immediate on-site training when deficiencies are found and is a leader in the Operations Mentorship Program for Location and Operations Managers. This Auditor position will be aligned with Northwest, North Central and Canada for the primary geographical area for partnerships. Successful candidate will live in the north central/west part of the US and within 50 miles of a major US airport. Audits will be conducted in other LLCs on a rotational basis. Travel is required 50-70% of the time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Conduct audits using company-provided audit checklists within Intelex and prepare detailed reports of audit discoveries and required corrective actions.

Learn and stays current on agency regulations related to Austin Powder business activity (MSHA, OSHA, ATF, DOT, EPA, DHS, ERD).

Participates in corporate Operations meetings to ensure knowledge of company programs (policies, manuals, training, and software) and initiatives remains current and communications are appropriate.

Provide mentorship to new Location Managers.

Provides support and guidance to field management to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.

Identify areas where additional training is needed both at an individual location as well as overall at Austin Powder Company.

Participates in the investigation of serious incidents and assists in the preparation of root cause analysis.

Participate in the recommendation of changes in policies, procedures and work practices.

Plan and execute regulatory and company required training, as directed.

Carries out other duties as may be required.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Ability to read extensively and interpret MSHA, OSHA, ATF, DOT, DHS and other industry- and company- specific regulations.

Interpersonal/communication skills. Demonstrates an ability to work with site leaders, field management, co-workers and peers toward the accomplishment of a common goal.

Utilizes effective written and verbal communication techniques to develop reports, standard operating procedures, policies and effective group or one-on-one training.

Time Management skills: Demonstrates an ability to manage own schedule and work from remote locations.

Analytical Skills: Demonstrates an ability to analyze and make sound recommendations.

Presentation Skills: Demonstrates ability to present information in written and verbal format to widely diverse audiences.

Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint

Must be detailed oriented.

Results oriented individual with strong influencing, collaboration, problem solving skills.

Must possess or obtain within 120 days of hire:

OSHA 30 Certification

Incident investigation/Root cause analysis training

CPR and First Aid training

Competent Person Fall Protection training

MSHA Blue Card

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's or associate degree. Experience in lieu of education may be considered.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Teams.

Experience in Federal Regulatory preferred, not required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Travel will be 50-70%

Physical ability to travel by car and air

Ability to sit, stand, walk for extended period on location audits

Ability to use repetitive motion of hand, finger wrist motion and dexterity for data entry, viewing computer screens and use of mouse/keyboard.

Clear verbal communication and active listening, often over the phone or video calls.

Location

Remote office setting with successful candidate located in the north central/west part of the US and within 50 miles of a major US airport.

Travel is required 50-70% of the time.
