: 12+ Month Contract (Ongoing, with likely extension/potential for conversion to full-time)

Our client, a leading energy and utilities organization, is seeking a SAFe Certified Scrum Master to drive Agile execution and support high-performing teams within a complex, regulated environment. This is a long-term, ongoing, remote contract opportunity supporting a large-scale enterprise transformation, including modernization of legacy systems to cloud/microservices architecture and adoption of SAFe Agile practices.

The ideal candidate will bring strong Agile coaching and facilitation skills, along with hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (ADO) to manage backlogs, track sprint progress, and support metrics-driven delivery.

Responsibilities
• Serve as a SAFe Scrum Master supporting Agile Release Train (ART) execution.
• Coach, mentor, and guide teams in adopting an Agile mindset, promoting ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Capture and track sprint metrics (e.g., velocity, burndown, flow) and drive continuous improvement.
• Foster a collaborative team environment and act as a servant leader to support team cohesion and performance.
• Identify and remove impediments to enable team productivity and delivery.
• Help teams identify strengths and areas for improvement and implement actionable solutions.
• Participate in Scrum of Scrums (SoS) and contribute to Scrum Master Community of Practice (CoP) activities.
• Manage and coordinate cross-team dependencies across products and projects within the ART.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align scope, priorities, and deliverables with business objectives.
• Act as a power user of Azure DevOps (ADO) for backlog management, sprint tracking, reporting, and dashboards.
• Support and mentor junior Scrum Masters as needed.
• Coordinate with vendors and system integrators to support delivery.
• Apply knowledge of traditional project management to support hybrid (waterfall + Agile) environments and Agile transformation efforts.
• Support release planning, capacity planning, and velocity forecasting at team and portfolio levels.
• Develop and maintain project artifacts, including schedules, estimates, resource plans, and status reports.
• Monitor delivery progress, risks, and performance; communicate updates to leadership and stakeholders.
• Support risk identification, impact analysis, and mitigation planning in a regulated environment.
• May participate in emergency/storm response activities, including after-hours support as required.

Skills & Qualifications
• SAFe Scrum Master certification required
• 5–8+ years of Scrum Master experience, preferably in enterprise environments
• Strong experience supporting Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and SAFe ceremonies (PI Planning, SoS, etc.)
• Proven ability to coach teams and drive Agile maturity
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (ADO) for backlog management, reporting, and metrics
• Experience managing cross-team dependencies in complex environments
• Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, Lean, XP)
• Working knowledge of engineering practices (CI/CD, TDD, DevOps)
• Experience working in regulated industries (utilities preferred)
• Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
• Demonstrated servant leadership, team-building, and conflict resolution (high EQ)
• Experience supporting Agile transformation from traditional project management
• PMP or traditional project management experience (preferred)

Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
