Risk / Compliance Manager
We’re looking for our next Risk and Compliance superstar to join our team as a Risk & Compliance Manager based in Italy - as we continue to transform the future of finance. The Role As Risk & Compliance Manager, you’ll be helping to shape our Risk Management Framework, ensuring it aligns with our business strategy, regulatory obligations, and commitment to delivering excellent customer outcomes. You’ll report into both the UK Head of Compliance & MLRO and Italian MLRO, working closely with senior leadership to provide meaningful risk insights, influence decision-making, and help future-proof our business. This role is a remote-first position; however, it is essential that you are based in Italy and happy to travel to our office in Milan as required. What You’ll Be Doing • Designing and enhancing risk frameworks that are practical, strategic, and regulation-ready • Promoting a strong risk culture across Wirex • Preparing risk reports for our Board and Risk Committees • Leading improvements in risk management practices across departments • Supporting compliance leaders with regulatory reporting and critical business adhoc projects • Collaborating with peers and external risk experts to keep us ahead of industry trends About You • Reside in Italy with full working rights • Fluent in both Italian and English • 2+ years’ experience in risk management within payments, banking, or risk consultancy • Familiar with risks in digital assets or fintech/payments • Strong communicator with exceptional stakeholder management skills • Analytical, proactive, detail-obsessed, and calm under pressure • Confident working independently and cross-functionally in a fast-moving environment Technical competence and risk know-how are important to us, but so is your curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn more. Therefore, we’re open to the background you come from. Perhaps you’ve worked in consulting, where you've been exposed to a wide variety of challenges and developed strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Maybe you've supported risk or compliance teams in an environment where things were ambiguous and fast-moving. If you’ve got around 18 months to 2 years+ of relevant experience and a strong foundation but are now ready to step up, we’d love to hear from you.
