Job Description:

An expanding fresh produce importer/shipper with a national footprint has a new opportunity for a Retail Business Development Manager. The company is expanding their product portfolio/volume and seeks a talented individual to help lead sales growth through new customer acquisition and growth opportunities within the current customer base.

Experience developing new business with retail grocery chains in the Fruit Category is required. Other new business development and customer expansion experience valuable. This is an opportunity for an energetic, self-motivated, organized, sales personality to assume a unique position at a mature yet innovative company expanding their reach into additional distribution channels.

Position ideally based in the Eastern U.S. The opportunity for hybrid or a home-based work environment will be considered for the right individual. Travel to customers, trade shows, and company facility required.

Position Responsibilities Include
• Developing a retail centric business and marketing plan encompassing all channels of retail sales opportunities including independent, regional, national, government and mass market.
• Establish and manage a budget supporting the retail business plan.
• Establish and develop a sales (CRM) tool for managing the sales pipeline.
• Work closely with management, communicating clearly with team members.
• Organizing and supporting day to day supply side and sales order management.
• Assist in coordinating shipping and distribution with appropriate teams
• Assist in outside grower relations and forecasting in order to meet sales commitments.
• Travel to customer headquarters, prospect presentations, store visits, trade shows, and company facilities as required.

Position Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
• 5-10 years of fresh produce sales experience.
• Skills and able to handle multiple priorities.
• Experience working within retail portals. (EDI, iTrade, Foodlink, Retail Link)
• Excellent interpersonal, written/ Ability to work independently yet be a contributing member of a team.
• Demonstrated success developing business with new grocery retail chain accounts.
• Experience managing retail ads, seasonal promotions, and seasonal-long term contracts.
• Exceptional organizational oral communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to excel in a hands-on, fast paced entrepreneurial, start-up environment.
• Passion for the fresh produce business.
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
