Job description: 2. Qualify, at time of hire, for State of Delaware certification as a School Principal/Assistant Principal and have a current Delaware teaching license is required.
3. A minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience to be initially assigned as an Assistant Principal for candidates with no prior administrative experience is required.
4. School leadership experience is preferred.
5. Excellent organizational, planning, communication and implementation skills.
6. Applicant must demonstrate a level of knowledge and/or experience appropriate to the position.
7. Excellent computer/technology/multi-media skills.
8. Favorable criminal background check and child registry check required.
9. Tuberculin test is required.
10. Participation in direct deposit is required.

JOB
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supports and works with the principal in carrying out responsibilities that support effective school operations.
2. Assists Principal in measurement and evaluation of students and staff.
3. Assigns teacher and student schedules in cooperation with principal.
4. Administers and enforces an effective program of student discipline and interacts with students to encourage positive performance.
5. Adheres to and enforces district safety protocols and practices.
6. Maintains positive relations with parents, staff, school volunteers, the community and outside agencies.
7. Ensures building level compliance to federal, state, and local requirements.
8. Provides general supervision to students.
9. Supports and actively participates in school/district initiatives.
10. Observes and evaluates school personnel as prescribed by the Department of Education DPAS/DTGSS process.
11. Attends and supervises extra-curricular activities.
12. Assumes responsibility for specific areas of administration and management as assigned by the principal; uses administrative and management practices to promote and maintain the efficient and effective operation of the school.
13. Works with the principal to establish and maintain successful relationships with parents, the PTO and other community organizations to ensure ongoing, active communication and initiate activities which foster productive parent and community involvement.
14. Assumes responsibility for operation of the school in the absence of the principal.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF
EMPLOYMENT:
1. Twelve month contractual position, approved by the Board of Education.
2. Salary based on current State and Local Administrative Salary Schedule.
3. Benefits in accordance with current Laurel Board policy.
