 Develop and implement engaging and individualized lesson plans for elementary students who are deaf or hard of hearing, utilizing effective instructional strategies and technology.
 Align lesson plans with state and national educational standards, integrating adaptive techniques and tools as necessary.
 Effectively leverage virtual teaching platforms to engage students and facilitate meaningful communication while monitoring their academic progress.
 Cultivate an inclusive and positive virtual classroom atmosphere, promoting active participation and addressing any learning or behavioral challenges.
 Work collaboratively with families, speech-language pathologists, and other educational specialists to enhance student learning and overall development.
 Continuously monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and making necessary adjustments to instructional approaches.
 Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed about the latest practices in deaf education and virtual teaching methodologies.
Required Skills
 Proficiency in utilizing virtual teaching tools and platforms for effective instruction.
 Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other relevant communication methods for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
 Ability to foster an engaging and inclusive virtual classroom environment.
 Excellent organizational skills, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
Qualifications
 A Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
 Possession of an Illinois State Teaching Certification in Deaf Education or an equivalent credential.
 Demonstrated experience teaching deaf or hard-of-hearing students, ideally within a virtual educational setting.
