Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement engaging and individualized lesson plans for elementary students who are deaf or hard of hearing, utilizing effective instructional strategies and technology.
• Align lesson plans with state and national educational standards, integrating adaptive techniques and tools as necessary.
• Effectively leverage virtual teaching platforms to engage students and facilitate meaningful communication while monitoring their academic progress.
• Cultivate an inclusive and positive virtual classroom atmosphere, promoting active participation and addressing any learning or behavioral challenges.
• Work collaboratively with families, speech-language pathologists, and other educational specialists to enhance student learning and overall development.
• Continuously monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and making necessary adjustments to instructional approaches.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed about the latest practices in deaf education and virtual teaching methodologies.

Required Skills
• Proficiency in utilizing virtual teaching tools and platforms for effective instruction.
• Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other relevant communication methods for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
• Ability to foster an engaging and inclusive virtual classroom environment.
• Excellent organizational skills, capable of working independently and collaboratively.

Qualifications
• A Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Possession of an Illinois State Teaching Certification in Deaf Education or an equivalent credential.
• Demonstrated experience teaching deaf or hard-of-hearing students, ideally within a virtual educational setting.
