They are seeking a highly technical engineer to manage and extend a large-scale wireless authentication and access platform focused on operational, development, and troubleshooting aspects of wireless onboarding and authentication.ResponsibilitiesDeploy, maintain, and troubleshoot OpenWRT-based wireless infrastructureConfigure and manage FreeRADIUS environmentsSupport PPSK/DPSK/MPSK wireless authentication systemsTroubleshoot WPA/WPA2/WPA3 enterprise and PPSK authentication flowsDebug RADIUS authentication/accounting issues using tools such as tcpdump and WiresharkMaintain wireless VLAN assignment and dynamic policy systemsWork with MikroTik RouterOS and switching infrastructureConfigure and troubleshoot hostapd, UCI, ubus, and Linux networkingBuild and maintain integrations between wireless controllers and RADIUS systemsTroubleshoot roaming, DHCP, VLAN tagging, multicast, and client connectivity issuesSupport large-scale WiFi deployments in residential and ISP environmentsMaintain firmware upgrade and configuration automation workflowsAssist with AP provisioning, telemetry collection, and monitoring systemsAnalyze wireless performance issues including RSSI, CCQ, airtime, retries, and channel utilizationDevelop scripts and automation tooling in Python, Bash, Go, and LUAParticipate in architecture and scaling discussions for wireless infrastructureSkillsStrong Linux networking knowledgeStrong understanding of: 802.11 wireless networking, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, NAT, Routing, FirewallingExperience with: OpenWRT, FreeRADIUS, MikroTik RouterOS, hostapd, WPA/WPA2/WPA3 authenticationExperience troubleshooting RADIUS: Access-Request / Access-Accept / Reject flows, Accounting packets, Vendor-specific attributes (VSAs)Comfortable using: tcpdump, Wireshark, SSH, Linux CLIUnderstanding of PPSK/DPSK systems and dynamic VLAN assignmentExperience with scripting or development in: Python, BashFamiliarity with SQL databases (MariaDB/MySQL/SQLite)ISP or carrier WiFi experienceExperience with: Ruckus, TP-Link Omada, OpenWRT firmware customization, Mediatek, Broadcom, and Qualcom-based wireless platforms, TR-069 / ACS systems, MQTT-based device communicationUnderstanding of EAPOL and WPA handshake internalsExperience building or maintaining custom RADIUS middleware/shimsFamiliarity with Docker and containerized deploymentsSNMP monitoring and telemetry systemsExperience scaling WiFi systems across hundreds of thousands of APsBenefitsPaid time off (PTO)Paid Sick Leave (PSL)Medical, vision and dental benefits401k program after 3 months of employmentCompany OverviewHonest Networks provides internet services aimed at providing its customers with a high-quality internet network.
