They are seeking a motivated VP, Legal Content to provide strategic leadership over the planning, development, and execution of their legal content software solutions, ensuring their value and usability for WealthCounsel members.ResponsibilitiesProvides strategic leadership to the Legal Content team, including the Editors in Chief, the Director of Content Development, Legal Editors, and the Product Implementation Manager; supervises and supports these leaders in the execution of their respective areasIn collaboration with the CCO, establishes the strategic direction of the company's core software solutions, including Wealth Docx, Elder Docx, Business Docx, Gun Docx, and Wealth Tracx; executes this strategy in continuous collaboration with company leadership, Legal Content team subject matter experts, and the Products and Engineering teamsOversees the development of legal content and the content authoring tools used for legal content development from ideation through production; proactively addresses and resolves issues and risks that ariseCommunicates with WealthCounsel members, the Products and Engineering team, the Legal Content team, and other stakeholders to identify and assess legal content and software solutions requirements; applies this knowledge to support software solutions development strategyCollaborates with the Learning team to develop educational materials relevant to WealthCounsel’s legal content solutionsPresents to and creates written materials for WealthCounsel members and staff about legal technology and substantive estate planning topicsEnsures compliance with applicable legal regulations, industry best practices, and company processes and proceduresEstablishes and communicates strategic direction across all areas of responsibility; executes strategy in collaboration with the CCO and company leadershipCommunicates department, program, and project performance and process to the CCO through periodic status reports and presentationsDevelops, implements, and tracks key performance metrics, milestones, specifications, documentation and reporting requirements, and budgetsTracks and analyzes program, project, and process costs across all areas of responsibilityPromotes collaboration across departmentsMaintains current knowledge of trends in the legal technology industryPerforms other duties as requiredInterviews, hires, and trains management-level staff in the Legal Content departmentOversees the daily workflow of the Legal Content departmentProvides constructive and timely performance feedback and evaluations to ensure top-level performance at all levels of the departmentLeads fair and consistent employee accountability processes, including corrective action and termination, in compliance with company guidelinesSkillsJuris Doctor (JD) requiredAt least 10 years of industry-related experience, including a minimum of three years in an upper management role10+ years of experience in estate planning and/or elder lawKnowledge and familiarity with WealthCounsel's legal content software solutionsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to improve business processes and practices to reduce costs and increase efficiencyAbility to identify and implement best practices and continual performance measurementExcellent interpersonal and negotiation skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailStrong supervisory and leadership skillsInterest in the creative potential of using technology to solve lawyers' problems and overcome pain points in their practicesWillingness to regularly teach, present, and write requiredTravel to conferences requiredKnowledge of document automation software preferredProficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related softwareBenefitsCompetitive benefits (see below)Base salary and performance based incentivesMedical/dental/vision planMatching 401(k)A generous paid time off package that includes: Paid Time Off (PTO), Holidays (including 2 Floating Holidays), Volunteer Time, Blood Donor Leave, Short Term Disability, Paid Parental Leave and more!Matching donations for approved charitable organizationsHome internet and gym membership reimbursementMany opportunities to connect with others from your home office and have fun while you workCompany OverviewWealthCounsel is a legal services company offering legal software and law practice management software.
